Many people think that the terms ‘real estate agent’ and ‘Realtor’ are interchangeable, but they are not. Although all Realtor members are real estate agents, all real estate agents are not Realtors. A real estate agent refers to anyone who has earned a real estate license as a sales professional, a broker or an associate broker. A Realtor, on the other hand, is a real estate agent who is also a member of the National Association of Realtor. This means that they must uphold the standards of the association and its code of ethics. In order to be correctly referred to as a Realtor, a real estate agent must be a member of CREA. Realtors are members of organized real estate and have complete access to the tools and data of the MLS Systems of their local real estate boards.
