THE ANNEX

The Annex comprises everything from aging rental apartment buildings and large, old homes converted to student rental units, to elegant single-family residences and newer condominiums. Over the past several years, buyers, attracted by the beautiful century homes and leafy streets, have begun to restore many of the multi-unit homes to single-family use.

THE ANNEX

First developed in the last decades of the 19th Century, The Annex became home to such local business titans as Timothy Eaton, patriarch of Eaton’s department store, and George Gooderham, president of the Gooderham and Worts Distillery.

Although the city’s elite began to move north, in the early part of the 20th Century, to newer areas, such as Forest Hill and Lawrence Park, the Annex’s central location and easy access to shopping, entertainment, and services, has maintained its reputation as a sought-after neighbourhood.
